Marko Admits: Verstappen’s Chances of Winning in the RB19 Are Slim

Red Bull motorsport consultant Helmut Marko has candidly acknowledged Max Verstappen’s chances of winning this season with the RB19. Despite the records broken last season, Marco expressed skepticism about repeating the success with the previous year’s car.
The 2023 Formula 1 season was marked by the impressive dominance of Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing.

The Dutch driver won 19 out of 22 races and became world champion. However, Marco was quick to dismiss any speculation that Verstappen could repeat that feat in 2024 with the RB19.

In an interview, the consultant said he thought the idea of Verstappen winning again in the RB19 was “silly”. He pointed out that despite the car’s performance at certain tracks last season, the competition, particularly McLaren, came close at times but fell short of rivals Red Bull.
Marco had realistic expectations about Verstappen’s prospects. According to him, the true assessment will be revealed during next week’s testing in Bahrain.

The consultant emphasized that the new car, a further development of the previous model, should maintain the team’s competitiveness while minor deficiencies are corrected.
Despite his doubts about the RB19’s performance in 2024, Marco was confident that Red Bull could stay ahead. He acknowledged that the strong competitive environment of F1 requires continuous development and challenges. The consultant emphasized the importance of a practical and realistic approach to difficulties.
The 2024 Formula 1 season will be a scenario of intense competition between the top teams, with Red Bull facing challenges to maintain its dominant position.

Uncertainty surrounds the tracks and fans are anxiously waiting to see how Verstappen and Red Bull will rise to the challenge and whether they can maintain their dominance in motorsport’s highest category.
