Frankie Carchedi identifies pivotal moment in Fabio Di Gianantonio’s career recovery

Last season in MotoGP, Fabio Di Giannantonio faced significant challenges before making significant progress. He remained with Gresin for the second season, but his performance was slow to improve. But chief mechanic Frankie Carsedi identified the key points that led to Di Gianantonio’s incredible turnaround.

Carchedi cited Silverstone as the place where he first saw Di Gianantonio’s ability to overcome adversity. He analyzed Di Gianntonio’s lap times compared to leader Peco Bagnaia and highlighted impressive performances. A pass and a wet tire pit stop later, Di Gianantonio showed great skill and closed the gap to Bagnaia.According to the chief mechanic, there were also signs of improvement in the German and Dutch GPs.

However, Silverstone looked the real turning point as Di Gianantonio began to show consistency, moving into Q2 in regular practice.Lap analysis at Silverstone confirmed, with Di Gianantonio edging out Bagnaia by 1.1 seconds between 9th and 16th, moving from 16th to 10th. A bet on wet tires relegated him to 13th, but Carsede saw potential in the Italian. The comeback continued with Di Gianantonio taking the front row at Phillip Island and winning in Qatar.

Despite finishing bottom of the table against Australia and Valencia, he produced some impressive performances and secured his promotion in the second half of the season. At the end of the season, Di Gianantonio tripled his points tally to 12th overall. This turn not only secured his place in MotoGP, but also earned him a place in the VR46 team.Frankie Carseddi reflects on Di Gianntonio’s spectacular recovery and insists Silverstone was a significant milestone that paved the way for a more consistent and successful MotoGP career for the Italian rider.
