FIA Chief Mohammed Ben Sulayem Exonerated of Allegations by Ethics Committee

8 months ago By Sports Desk

The head of the FIA, Mohammed Ben Sulaym, was acquitted in this case by the ethics committee.

After a 30-day investigation by the FIA’s ethics committee, Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) president Mohamed Ben Sulayem has been acquitted of all race interference charges. The allegations, which included allegations of interference in the organization of the Las Vegas Grand Prix and the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, were found to be unfounded after a comprehensive independent review.

In the Las Vegas Grand Prix case, Ben Sulaym was accused of trying to find irregularities in the circuit so that the track could not be certified by the FIA before the race. However, the ethics committee found no evidence to support these claims, stressing that the review process included interviews with 11 witnesses and a thorough analysis of the circumstances.

Moreover, allegations of interference in the Saudi Grand Prix, where Ben Sulaym was accused of attempting to overturn a penalty handed down to Fernando Alonso during the race, were also dismissed by the ethics committee. Again, a careful review of the events and witness statements found no basis for these allegations.

The Ethics Committee’s conclusion was supported by an official FIA statement emphasizing the importance of integrity and transparency in motorsport. The FIA has reiterated its commitment to ensure that all parties involved in competitions adhere to the highest ethical and professional standards and that any allegations of misconduct are investigated rigorously and impartially.

President Ben Sulaiman expressed his gratitude for the conclusion of the investigation and reaffirmed his commitment to promoting integrity and fairness in motorsport. He emphasized his confidence in the FIA’s ability to resolve disputes and controversies fairly and transparently, while maintaining a focus on the growth and development of the sport.

Meanwhile, the resolution of these allegations is an important moment for the FIA and its role on the international motorsport scene. With renewed confidence in Ben Sulaym’s leadership, the racing community can now focus on the exciting development of future competitions and events, knowing that the highest standards of ethics and governance will be maintained by the sport’s world governing body.
