Mercedes F1 Upgrades Disappoint: Blunt Impact Explanation Emerges

6 months ago By Sports Desk

The Mercedes Formula 1 team is facing a challenging time after its recent updates failed to deliver the expected results during the Miami Grand Prix. The team’s Andrew Shovlin gave some insight into the true impact of the latest enhancement packs.

Mercedes performed below expectations in Miami at the weekend, with their drivers failing to score points in the sprint race and finishing as the fourth fastest team on the day of the race, behind McLaren, Red Bull and Ferrari.

Although Lewis Hamilton showed encouraging pace to finish sixth, putting pressure on Sergio Perez in the closing laps, the true effectiveness of Mercedes’ improvements remains to be seen, especially given the ongoing handling issues with the W15.

The team brought a significant improvement to Miami, especially in the area of the car floor. However, Shovlin explained that the full impact of these improvements will only be felt when they can fully resolve driving issues.

During Mercedes’ presentation on his YouTube channel, Shovlin shared: “We managed to bring about half of our upgrade kit to Miami and the other half will arrive in Imola. We are working hard on future GPs to bring developments to the likes of Well, to try, it worked as expected, yes, it seems to deliver the performance we expected from the floor.

While the upgrades appear to be delivering on their promise, the team still faces significant challenges in extracting maximum performance from the car. Solving the handling issues is essential for Mercedes to remain competitive throughout the season.

As the team continues to work on improvements and developments for future events, it is clear that the journey to fully resolve the handling issues remains a key priority for Mercedes.

With the Formula 1 season in full swing, fans are eager to see how the team will meet these challenges and whether it will be able to regain its prominent position on the grid. The expectation is that Mercedes will continue to look for solutions and improvements to meet the challenges of the competition.
