Francesco Bagnaia Says Ducati Didn’t Consult Him on Marquez Signing

4 months ago By Sports Desk

Francesco Bagnaia, reigning MotoGP champion, revealed that Ducati did not consult him about signing Marc Márquez for the 2025 season. Bagnaia had previously expressed his desire to continue with his current teammate, Enea Bastianini, due to their good relationship. However, Gigi Dall’Igna, general manager of Ducati Corse, stated that Bagnaia understood the team’s decision and did not attempt to influence it.

Ducati had to choose between Jorge Martin and Marc Márquez for the second factory team seat. Initially, Martin seemed to be the favorite, but the possibility of losing Márquez to another team led Ducati to sign the eight-time world champion.

Although not consulted, Bagnaia demonstrated professionalism, acknowledging that the team always aims for the best to compete for the world championship. Márquez’s arrival creates one of the most talented pairings in Ducati’s history, promising an interesting and challenging dynamic for the season.

This decision highlights Ducati’s ambition to maintain a strong and competitive lineup, even if it means managing potential internal rivalries. It remains to be seen how Bagnaia and Márquez will collaborate as teammates, given the intensity and aggressiveness they display on the track.
