Aston Martin Bolsters Technical Team with Ferrari’s Chassis Director

4 months ago By Sports Desk

It has been discovered that Aston Martin is significantly strengthening its technical team by recruiting Enrico Cardile, former chassis technical director at Ferrari. This change was announced after Cardile decided to leave Ferrari, where he played a crucial role in chassis development for nearly two decades.

Cardile, who will assume the position of Chief Technical Officer (CTO) at Aston Martin starting in 2025, is renowned for his extensive experience and significant contributions at Ferrari. In his previous role, he led the technical development of the Italian team’s chassis, playing a crucial role in improving the car’s performance.

Cardile’s arrival at Aston Martin is seen as a strategic move to bolster the team ahead of the major regulatory changes expected for Formula 1 in 2026. These changes are anticipated to level the playing field and redefine competition in the category.

Lawrence Stroll, Aston Martin’s executive chairman, expressed enthusiasm about Cardile’s hiring, emphasizing that the Italian shares the team’s motivation to achieve success in F1. He stressed that Cardile will have all the necessary resources at his disposal to realize this ambition.

Andy Cowell, who will become Group CEO of Aston Martin from October 2024, also welcomed Cardile’s arrival, stating that they are building a formidable team. Cowell will oversee the transition to Honda power units in 2026, while Martin Whitmarsh will pass on the group’s leadership.

Mike Krack, Aston Martin’s team principal, highlighted the importance of Cardile’s appointment, calling it “key” to the team’s plans as they move towards the new 2026 regulations. He noted that Cardile’s experience and fresh perspective will be crucial for the team’s technical strategy.

Currently fifth in the 2024 Constructors’ Championship, Aston Martin aims to improve not only its current performance but also to position itself competitively for future challenges in F1, with changes in the leadership team and the addition of Cardile.

The Formula 1 community now awaits to see how Aston Martin will integrate the new talents into its existing structure and how this will influence its performances in the upcoming races of the season and beyond.
