Alex Rins Unveils First Yamaha ‘Concession’ Test Following Portimao Race

Alex Rins reveals first ‘concession’ test with Yamaha after race at Portimao.

New Monster Yamaha MotoGP rider Alex Rins is ready to start a new phase after the race in Portimão by revealing his secret test under factory technical approval.

Rins, who joined the Yamaha team this year, is keen to explore the opportunities the team has created since the Portuguese Grand Prix. Although new Repsol Honda rider Luca Marin recently had the opportunity to test in Jerez, Yamaha chose to wait until after the race in Portimao to start additional testing.

Anticipation around the test is high, Rins shared his excitement during an interview in Portimão, saying: “This Monday, after GP week, we will have a test. I still don’t know what we will test, but I believe it. It will be interesting to test after the race.”

Along with his partner, Fabio Quartararo, Rins will have the opportunity to explore the bike’s changes and modifications, taking advantage of the opportunities offered to the Yamaha team. This includes additional testing capabilities as well as other benefits such as additional motor interchangeability and no motor cooling.

For Rins, the test is not only a chance to ride a bike. After a difficult start to the season where he struggled in Qatar, the driver is keen to use the test to improve his performance and get used to his new team.

“I’m not afraid because it is, and if you’re afraid, maybe you don’t have the freedom to think and act the way you know,” Rins said of the speech in Qatar. He is confident that the concessions will give him the opportunity to improve the bike and work with the team to overcome challenges.

Meanwhile, MotoGP fans will be eagerly waiting to see how Rins and the Yamaha team will perform during the test and how this will affect their performance in the upcoming races. With determination and new changes at his disposal, Rins is ready to challenge and get the best results in the 2024 MotoGP season.

Yamaha’s end-of-race testing in Portimão is a milestone for Rins and the team, and everyone is optimistic about what lies ahead for them in an exciting MotoGP season.
