5 months ago By Sports Desk

Axel Bassani will continue his journey with the Kawasaki Racing Team (KRT) in the 2025 WorldSBK season alongside current team-mate Alex Lowes. The deal was completed by Marco Simoncelli at the Misano World Circuit, an important moment for both the driver and the team.

Since joining KRT, Bassani has adapted to the Ninja ZX-10RR and shown continuous improvement with every race and test session. Basan’s retention in the team shows the confidence KRT and his partners have in his potential. The decision by the Kawasaki Racing Team to keep both current riders in the new Bimota project is to ensure stability and maximize performance for next season.

Bassani emphasized the importance of the announcement being made in his home Misano, expressing his enthusiasm for the continuity within the team and the new project. “What better place than Misano to announce that I am with the team and my participation in a project that combines the skills and commitment from Japan and Italy! This opportunity will help me learn more and develop as a pilot. I am very happy and in terms of confidence and focus for the rest of 2024, this will give me all my time and energy with KRT Ninja. “With the ZX-10RR, it allows me to invest in finding points and platforms,” said Bassani.

KRT Team Manager Jim Roda expressed his satisfaction with Bassan’s contract extension. “We have extended the long-term agreement with Axel because he has met 100% of our expectations from him. His potential is evident in the quality details that will be seen in the first races of the 2024 season. He has already used it. Everyone in the team is very happy with this continuation and we look forward to an amazing 2025 with him. “We are looking forward to the season,” Rhoda said.

Steve Guthridge, manager of race planning at Kawasaki Motors Europe, emphasized the importance of continuity in difficult times. “The fact that Alex is bringing his experience to bear on the new project is a huge step forward for Accel’s commitment,” commented Guthridge.

Shigemi Tanaka, General Manager of Marketing and Sales of Kawasaki Motors Limited, presented at the WorldSBK round of Misano, concluded: “This weekend saw the next step in the evolution of the Kawasaki Racing Team’s Bimota project. By retaining the talents of Axel and Alex, both Kawasaki and Bimota have two key pieces of the puzzle that will allow us to progress through the complex development of the new car. This puts speculation to rest, allowing everyone involved in the project to focus on the Ninja ZX-10RR’s successful WorldSBK season in 2025.

With the early confirmation of both drivers, the team can now fully focus on the task at hand with a view to ensuring the best performance in the remaining races of the season and beyond.
