Fernando Alonso reacts to Adrian Newey rumours: ‘I always wanted to work with him’

10 months ago By Sports Desk

Fernando Alonso, one of Formula 1’s most experienced and respected drivers, has recently reacted to rumors surrounding Adrian Newey’s possible departure from Red Bull Racing. Newey, one of the sport’s best-known designers, has been involved in many of the team’s achievements over the years, but reports suggest he is considering leaving the team after a long 19-year stint.

Alonso expressed his admiration for Newey, saying he had always wanted to work with him at some point in his career. The Spanish driver described Newey as “the best” Formula 1 has ever had, highlighting his genius in racing car design and his lasting influence on the sport.

Amidst rumors surrounding Newey’s future and possible F1 fate, Alonso stressed the importance of his presence in the paddock regardless of the future collaboration. He considers it a privilege to compete in the same era as Newey and appreciates the opportunity to interact with and learn from such an influential figure in motorsport.

Although Alonso has expressed his desire to work with Newey, he admits that the final decision rests with the designer and the team that hires him. He also emphasized that in addition to the technical aspect, it is essential to have a harmonious integration within the team for any collaboration to be successful.

Aston Martin team owner Lawrence Stroll has expressed an interest in Newey’s services, but reports suggest the designer may be more inclined to join Ferrari. However, Alonso stressed that his admiration for Newey goes beyond contractual matters and that his contribution to the sport will be remembered and celebrated regardless of where he decides to take his career.

Newey’s imminent departure from Red Bull will leave a void at the team, but his legacy as one of Formula 1’s leading designers will remain intact. His genius and innovation have been central to the team’s success over the years, and his presence will be felt throughout the F1 paddock.

While rumors about Newey’s future continue to circulate, Alonso remains focused on his performances on the track. He hopes to continue to compete at a high level and contribute to the sport he loves as he looks forward to seeing how the F1 scene develops in the coming months.
