8 months ago By Sports Desk

Ryan Vickers claimed a thrilling double victory in the British Superbike Championship at Navarre for the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing team. At the Circuit de Navarra, Vickers not only took victory in the first race, but held on to first place despite a dramatic moment in the final corner of the second race.

In the second race, Kyle Ryde got off to a good start and overtook Danny Kent and Ryan Vickers. However, on lap five, McAMS Racing Yamaha’s Danny Kent made an impressive first move to take the lead.

Kent led until the ninth lap when Vickers managed to get back to the top spot. Even under intense pressure from Kent and Ryde, Vickers showed determination and ability to maintain his lead all the way to the finish line. With this victory, he not only takes first place in the second race, but leads the championship going into the next round at Oulton Park.

In addition to Vickers’ victory, Kyle Ride and Danny Kent completed the podium in the second race, underscoring Yamaha’s dominance at this stage of the championship. Honda Racing UK’s Tommy Bridwell was in a promising position to challenge for the podium but was forced to retire from the race on lap nine.

Leon Haslam of ROKiT Haslam Racing BMW Motorrad had a strong race to finish fourth. Oxford Products Racing Ducati’s Christian Iddon and Completely Motorcycles Kawasaki riders Jason O’Halloran and Max Cook rounded out the top six.

Despite the excitement on the track, there were moments of frustration. Rory Skinner was forced to retire from the race, while Fraser Rogers escaped unscathed after a crash at turn four.

Vickers’ double win at Navarre underlines his position as one of the leading contenders for the British Superbike Championship title. His ability to maintain his lead even under extreme pressure is testament to his prowess as a pilot.

For the OMG GRILLA Yamaha Racing team, Vickers’ wins cemented their position as a powerhouse in the championship. With an impressive performance in Navarre, the team showed its solidity and technical ability at the start of the season.

The next round of the British Superbike Championship takes place at Oulton Park, where Vickers and his team will look to keep the positive momentum going and continue their pursuit of the title.
