Quartararo Commits to Yamaha with Contract Extension

10 months ago By Sports Desk

French rider Fabio Quartararo has renewed his contract with the factory Yamaha team until 2026, in a move that cements his long-standing partnership with the Japanese manufacturer. The two-year extension comes after speculation over the future of Quartararo, whose previous contract was due to expire at the end of the 2024 season.

Quartararo, who won the MotoGP title with Yamaha in 2021, has gone through ups and downs since then and has faced challenges in the face of Ducati’s dominance in the premier category. Despite the problems, Quartararo expressed his satisfaction with continuing his “adventure in the blue team”, underscoring his renewed confidence in Yamaha.

The 2022 season was particularly disappointing for Quartararo, who lost a 91-point lead to Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia. However, the 24-year-old has shown his determination to overcome adversity and continue to compete at the highest level.

The renewal of Quartararo’s contract is seen as a sign of confidence for both the rider and Yamaha. The team’s managing director, Lin Jarvis, emphasized the importance of keeping Quartararo in the MotoGP project, emphasizing his dedication and commitment to the team.

Jarvis admitted there is a lot of work to be done for Yamaha to regain its place at the top of the category. However, he highlighted significant changes to the team’s organization, including new technical partnerships and an increase in the development budget, as signs of a renewed commitment to success.

Quartararo, for his part, expressed his confidence in Yamaha’s new approach and his determination to return to the podium. He praised the work the team did during last winter and highlighted the improvement in the car’s feel during training for the Japanese Grand Prix.

With the renewal of Quartararo’s contract, Yamaha hopes to regain its competitiveness in MotoGP and once again compete for the title. The French driver is seen as a fundamental part in this rebuilding process, and his continuity in the team brings stability and confidence for the future.
