Roger Penske Clarifies NASCAR’s Stance on Hybrid vs Electric Battle

1 years ago By Sports Desk

Team Penske owner and principal Roger Penske has given his thoughts about NASCAR’s stance on hybrid vs. electric.

As there are talks in almost every spot to go carbon neutral lately, the NASCAR series is not exceptional. The motorsport world is heavily criticised for its use of conventional fossil fuels and the ecological impact they have.

Existential motorsport competitions, except the electrical ones, are regularly criticised for their carbon footprints too.So, renewable technology and fuel resources are being tested to be implemented in most of the Motorsports departments, and NASCAR is no exception.

And the owner of Team Penske said that he sees hybrids and hydrogen as more likely options than electric to power NASCAR’s future.Indeed, hybrid vehicles, which run mainly on hydrogen fuel, are the best options to go for as a clean and eco-friendly fuel.

While giving an interview, Roger Penske said “I think the hybrid formula seems to be something that will make a lot of sense as we go forward because we’ve been seeing electrification kind of slow down here lately. I think hybrid is more of a bridging strategy for the future.”

This isn’t the first time that the 86-year-old has leaned into the science of cleaner energy sources. Penske also owns the NTT IndyCar Series, which revealed that its new 2.2-litre twin-turbocharged hybrid V-6 engine would make its inaugural drive during the second half of the 2024 season.
